From there, each handmade paper sheet is cut to proper size and hand placed onto a standard UL lampshade backing using a non-toxic adhesive. The real, nito vine is collected and cleaned before being handwoven into a metal mesh to recreate the natural, sporadic pattern of the vine as it grows around tree trunks. This outer diffuser is not only an attractive feature, but strong enough to serve as a protective barrier for the banana paper, inner diffuser. Banana fiber paper is created from banana trees that are cut down and would otherwise become waste. In addition to the environmental impact, recycling this natural by-product provides extra income to the local, Filipino farmers. The inner diffuser features banana fiber paper which is adhered using a non-toxic adhesive to a standard UL lamp backing.
