You don’t have to take on a full-blown renovation to transform your outdoor space. By updating your deck or patio’s color palette and incorporating some new décor, you can create the outdoor retreat you’ve been longing for. Whether you’re channeling your inner beach bum or creating a serene spot to wind down after a long day, the outdoors should be a place where you can escape for a while. Here are some of our favorite palettes.

Island Time

When turning your outdoor space into an island paradise, don’t be afraid of color! Choose bold, bright hues like various shades of yellow and orange, and vivid blues and greens that remind you of the sea. Places like the Florida Keys are known for their eclectic style with lots of personality, so keep that in mind when choosing décor. Go for fun, eye-catching pieces like the Clown Fish Wall Décor or Colorful Clown Fish Wall Décor. Add even more island flair by decorating with light fixtures in unexpected hues like the Outdoor Leaflet Table Lamp in orange. Top it off with some lush, tropical greenery, and you’ll be living the beach life in no time.

Zen Garden

Life can be stressful. If your outdoor living space is your sanctuary, this may be the color palette for you. Calm, muted tones from nature create a relaxing, spa-like feel. Decorate with a variety of green hues and natural shades. Looking for a bit more color? Consider lilac—it’s calming and reminiscent of Japanese cherry blossoms. Neutral items such as the Outdoor Lighted Table can be paired with pieces like the Outdoor Butterfly Table Lamp and Birds on a Wire Wall Décor, which add just a touch of color. Incorporate a calming water feature, and all your stress will melt away.

Tuscan Villa

Channel the Italian countryside with colors that pull from the landscape like rich yellows, olive green, red or burgundy, cream and deep brown. Plant some greenery in terracotta pots to add to the warm, rustic charm. The 48” Outdoor Square Shelf Lamp in natural will shed light on your evenings. Or opt for the Four Votive Candle Holder if you want soft, aromatic lighting. It will feel just like you’re at a romantic, Italian bistro. And your Tuscan space wouldn’t be complete without an homage to one of the region’s signature exports—wine! The Wine Better with Time Pallet Sign will pair perfectly with your covered patio or screened-in porch. Now you’re ready to celebrate the region by opening your favorite bottle of Sangiovese. Salute!

Coastal

For this palette, think of light and airy coastal hues. Crisp white, neutral tones such as beige and tan, navy and other shades of blue make up this simple and elegant color scheme. You can also add a pop of red or incorporate gray for a more modern feel. Nautical pieces like the Outdoor Fish Shelf Lamp and Sailboat Wall Décor evoke feelings of sandy toes and salty air. Whip up some lobster rolls or invite everyone over for a clam bake, and you’ll be transported to summer in New England.
